1. Causes of heating of COB light strips

(1) High-density chip packaging

The COB light strip adopts high-density chip packaging technology to closely arrange multiple LED chips. This design improves light efficiency and brightness, but also results in higher heat density.

(2) High brightness output

COB strips usually have higher brightness output, which means they have a higher operating current and power, which in turn generates more heat.

(3) Heat dissipation design

Although COB lamp strips generally use high-efficiency heat dissipation materials such as aluminum substrates, the heat dissipation effect may still be insufficient under long-term working or high-power output, resulting in heating of the lamp strip.

2. Effects of fever

(1) Shorten life

Long-term high-temperature work will accelerate the aging of LED chips and shorten the service life of the lamp strip.

(2) The decline of light and decay has intensified

High temperatures will cause the LED light decay to intensify, that is, the brightness will gradually decrease, affecting the lighting effect.

(3) Safety hazards

In extreme cases, overheating can cause safety hazards, such as circuit failure or fire risk.

3. How to solve the heating problem of COB light strip

(1) Reasonable selection of power

When purchasing COB light strips, you should choose appropriate power according to your needs to avoid excessive pursuit of brightness and causing unnecessary heating. For example, decorative lighting uses medium brightness, while functional lighting can use light strips with slightly higher brightness.

(2) Enhance heat dissipation

Radiator: Install a radiator or radiator for COB light strip to improve heat dissipation efficiency.

Good ventilation: Ensure good ventilation in the installation environment and avoid heat accumulation in the enclosed space.

Installation location: During installation, try to avoid sticking the light strip near the heat source, such as radiators.

(3) Use constant current drive

The constant current driver can stabilize the current and avoid excessive current causing excessive heating of the lamp strip. Choosing a high-quality constant current driver not only protects the light strip but also extends its service life.

(4) Control working hours

Avoid long-term continuous work, especially at high power, the switch of the light strip can be controlled by timing control or sensors to reduce continuous working time and reduce heating.

(5) Regular maintenance and cleaning

Check the light strips and radiator regularly to ensure that the heat is not affected by dust. At the same time, check the circuit connection to avoid heating problems caused by poor contact.
