1. Electrical characteristics

(1) Voltage and current: The working voltage of the 24V low-voltage light strip is 24V. At the same power, according to power = current × voltage, its working current is smaller than that of the 12V light strip.

(2) Power: Usually, the 24V light strip has greater power because higher voltages can drive more LED light beads.

(3) Line loss: There is line loss in power transmission, and the higher the voltage, the smaller the line loss. When the 24V light strip is transmitted on a long line, the voltage loss is small, which can ensure better brightness consistency; when the 12V light strip is lost on a long line, it may lead to inconsistent brightness.

2. Brightness performance

Generally speaking, the brightness of the 24V lamp strip of the same length and lamp bead specification is higher than that of the 12V lamp strip, and the 24V voltage can provide more energy to the lamp bead.

3. Heat dissipation requirements

(1) The 12V light strip has low power, low heat generation, and relatively low heat dissipation requirements. It can be used in occasions where the heat dissipation conditions are limited.

(2) The 24V light strip has a large power, generates a lot of heat, and has stricter requirements for the cooling system. Good heat dissipation conditions must be ensured during installation to prevent overheating and damage.

4. Installation related

(1) Cutting point: The 12V light strip often adopts a circuit design of three lamps and one cutter, that is, each three LED light beads form an independent circuit unit, which can be cut according to this point; the 24V light strip is usually six lamps and one cutter.

(2) Installation distance: The 12V light strip is prone to voltage drops over 5 meters, and it needs to be recharged every 5 meters, which is suitable for short-distance installation; the 24V light strip can be recharged every 10 meters or 20 meters, which is more suitable for long-distance lighting.

5. Safety performance

(1) Although both are relatively safe in the low voltage category, the 12V light strip voltage is lower and the risk of electric shock is smaller.

(2) From the inductance perspective, the inductance effect of the 24V light strip is smaller than that of the 12V, and there is less fluorescence interference and induction interference.

6. Application scenarios

(1) The 12V light strip is small in power, moderate in brightness and high in safety. It is suitable for small-scale places such as TV walls, cabinets, stairs in home decoration, and is also suitable for small store decoration.

(2) The 24V light strip has high brightness, high power, and can support long-distance lighting. It is suitable for large-scale spaces or long-distance lighting occasions such as large shopping malls, exhibition halls, hotel lobbies, outdoor landscape lighting, billboard lighting, etc.
